Conflict Resolution - With your Child

Posted on

May 7th at 6:30 at C.W. Perry School

How do you know if you’re entering into a power struggle with your child?

Any time you’re asking your child to do something and they’re refusing to comply—when you find them “pushing back” against the request you’ve given or the rules you’ve set down—you’re in a struggle. If the push for power is appropriate, you should be able to sit down with your child and talk about it in a fairly reasonable way. If it escalates into an argument or fight, you are in a defiant power struggle.

Ralph McCall and C.W. Perry parent council have joined together to bring in a Family Support Worker from McMan Family Services.

Our speaker will go through examples of power struggles with children and how we as parents can avoid the conflict and be prepared with techniques. There will be time for questions and open discussion, and an opportunity to hear from other parents who may be in similar situations.

Please join us at 6:30pm at C.W. Perry, this session will last 60-90 minutes.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
