Acting Principal’s Message:

I feel like this statement may have already been said once or twice, but I will say it again, welcome spring!! The warm sun has felt so wonderful this week while I’ve been outside in the morning welcoming students or outside at recess! The students have been enjoying the change in weather too! Students have been happily engaging at recess, free play, outdoor learning, and physical education! As the weather warms, please help us to reinforce the message to your children to ensure they bring home the coats and sweaters they come to school with each day! Our lost and found has once again grown! We plan to donate unclaimed items May 3rd. Classrooms will be visiting the lost and found this week!

This month at School Council and Friends of RMS, we had a great turn out of engaged parents. I appreciate those who come out in person and on-line. Please know that we are very welcoming and are accepting of new members anytime. The AGM will be occurring at our next meeting, and they are looking for new members to take on roles. Also, with the new upcoming Playground Project, we know that many hands make light work.

PL Day

April 29th is a Professional Learning Day! No school for students! Our staff will be looking at our school goals. Our work will include diving into assessment, PBIS, indigenizing our practice and learning more about Airdrie’s history!

New Website

April 26th is the day that we launch our new website! Rocky View Schools is slowly rolling out the new design across the division and we are excited for our new look! We hope that you will take some time to click and explore! The aim is for you to find information more easily and accessible between schools and division! Look and please provide us feedback! If there is information that you are seeking and can’t find, let us know!

Earth Day Assembly and Helping Hands Campaign:

We are so thankful for the return of nice weather (again)! It came in time to support our Earth Day clean up! Our students took part in the Helping Hands campaign! It started with a school assembly led by our Grade 2 students. They taught us some important messages around taking care of our community and were great ambassadors for the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle motto.

Positive Behavior and Interventions Supports:

We are excited to be kicking off our next PBIS Campaign! This one is about Respect! “Watch Us Soar with Respect” is our theme! Students will be taught about each of our expectations:

  • Listen to others
  • Follow expectations
  • Embrace Uniqueness

After the lessons are completed, students who are caught demonstrating the any of the 3 Respect expectations will be acknowledged by getting their name put up on our PBIS celebration wall!

Important Dates:

April 29th – PL Day – No school for Students

May 14th – School Council and Friends of RMS Meeting, 6:30pm

May 17th – PL Day – No School for Students

Balancing Airdrie Student Spaces - Rocky View Schools

Rocky View Schools recently shared the Board of Trustees’ Balancing Airdrie Student Spaces decision to improve utilizations through grade configuration changes and some attendance area changes effective September 2025. For our school Ralph McCall this means –  Grades move from K – 4 to K – 5 starting the 2025/26 school year. More information is available on RVSEngage. We understand you may have questions about these changes. Planning and communication with families for these transitions will take place throughout the next school year. While school staff do not have further details at this time, we will share new information as plans are confirmed. Thank you for your understanding.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
